Our Story There is no question in our minds that God has a definite plan and has His eye on the bigger picture of what He needs our heart and our service to be. Barb and I share a common heart, which God was fully aware of thus bringing us together. Barb has served, volunteered and organized fundraising events for various Phoenix valley charities including Gabriel's Angels, ChildHelp, Red Cross and Free Arts. At the same time, I (Darla), was serving Food for the Hungry, volunteering at my daughter's school, Mesa Arts Academy, volunteering at Cornerstone Fellowship Churches bookstore and raised funds for Harvest India to building wells. It is no coincidence that on February 18th, 2010 when we both sat down in the volunteer training room for Joyce Meyer Ministry that we intuitively sat next to each other in our prospect chairs. Neither of us had volunteered for four days for Joyce Meyer Conference but here we were feeling led to on this particular occasion. I, with my ear buds in listening to Joyce Meyer's podcast, waiting for the training to begin, and Barb with her Joyce Meyer book poised for a autograph - both ready for our prospective volunteer assignments. Drawn to start a conversation Barb initiated conversation which very quickly led us to discovering our common heart in serving the Lord. In addition we shared our thoughts and passion to fight against injustice and discussed with each other how small acts of Gods love has lead us to big changes in our own life. We believe this was the start of a plan that God had all along... After a day of trying to get to know each other while still fulfilling our volunteer duties (which consisted of telling conference goers "no, not this door") we managed to pack in years worth of information about each other. Saddened we did not have the same duty in the same building but making every effort to get to know each other anyway we quickly realized we wanted to be a part of Joyce Meyer's Love Revolution and make a difference. As we started this journey we talked about Joyce Meyer's Women's conference who's theme was Love Revolution. I had mentioned to Barb that I purchased the website www.LoveWalkRevolution.com several months back not really knowing how God was going to use it but knowing I wanted to be a part of that revolution in some way. Between Barb, who has a passion for families getting healthy together and event planning, and myself, who had just finished a fitness goal, the idea of having a LOVE WALK almost seemed too obvious. As soon as we said it out loud, the excitement of collaborating our energies to a common cause gave us a new confidence that we could make a greater difference in our service to God. What a gift to be able to facilitate an opportunity to empower families to take a step towards family unity and healthy habits in addition to inspiring, educating and motivating people of all ages about giving their time, talents and treasures to worthy endeavors and improving society through their joint and individual efforts We were excited to share our ideas with a group of fellow volunteers who all loved the idea and wanted to be a part of the event. So, we gathered names and numbers on small scraps of paper. We were on our way! It only seemed befitting that since Joyce Meyer's Love Revolution sparked this fire that her world missions arm Hand of Hope, who has such an incredible impact daily on changing lives, would be the benefactor of our 1st annual LOVE WALK. The Love Walk was confirmed and now it was just a matter of filling in the details. Each of us made a commitment to each other and bought a wrist band at the conference which states: "I take up compassion and surrender my excuses against injustice an commit to live out simple acts of God's love, I refuse to do nothing, this is my resolve. I am the Love Revolution". As a result of this meeting we have now formed a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization called A Servant Heart where we can continually serve our community and find ways to connect people. Barb and I want to say "thank you" to Joyce Meyer, not only for her incredible heart and her hysterical humor (which is sooooo relatable), but thank you for inspiring US to refuse to do nothing.
